About the team behind lis.to

We were, well, annoyed of by the lack of a decent task-manager, the way we wanted it. Our background being webservices this is our first venture into 'old-school' software development.

But then, there is always the sync service, which is SAS (software as a service) enough! If you like your software cooked in the same way we do you'll like lis.to. It might not be for everybody:

  • We want things fast, mostly mouse-based data entry and high-latency web clients are a no-go for us.
  • We want things small, one simple tool for one task (ask the *nix geeks), no bloatware etc. We might even consider Java somewhat heavy-weight, but for a cross-plattform app like the lis.to desktop client there really was no other choice.
  • We want things clean, not having to 'spray' files all over your filesystem is important for us - we want to be able to 'uninstall' software by deleting a folder!
  • We want access everywhere, different platforms all over the place! Mac at home, MS at work - Linux in the closet and iPhone on the go - we need software that works everywhere, natively (no web clients, thanks!).
  • We want things open – information wants to be free. XML based data storage, open-source clients - it can't be more open than that. No lock-in, no traps, no nothing!

So this is us, Tom and Mathias, if you like what we like, give it a spin (download here). Drop by, have a chat with us (just use the meebo applet to the right) or a coffee, we are based in beautiful Freiburg, Germany .

On the shoulder of giants

This project wouldn't have been possible without a lot of work we built upon:

Pricing and Licensing

Desktop clients will be free and open-source forever, no cripple- or adware, never.
Syncing service will be free for 30 days and incur an annual fee afterwards.
Sync subscription will be cancelable at any time and fully refunded for remaining months.
No risk, completely fair!
